Why Journalling is a Powerful Tool in Your Healing Journey

If you've worked with me, you've probably heard me say it at least once: "Write it down." After a session. During a moment of confusion. When something old resurfaces. I almost always come back to the same suggestion - journal it.
Not because it's a trendy wellness habit (though it certainly has become one), but because I've seen, again and again, how much it accelerates and deepens the healing process.
Let me explain why.
Journalling gives your healing a place to land
Energy work - Reiki, chakra healing, Akashic Records readings, inner child work - often brings things to the surface. A memory. An emotion. A realisation you didn't expect. In the moment, these insights can feel vivid and clear. But without something to anchor them, they can slip away just as quickly as they arrived.
Writing gives these moments a place to land. It turns a fleeting feeling into something you can return to, reflect on, and build upon. I've had clients read back journal entries from months earlier and suddenly see a pattern they'd completely missed in the moment because the page held what their memory couldn't.
It helps you process what words can't always capture out loud
There's something different about writing versus speaking. When you write, especially without editing yourself, without worrying about how it sounds, you access a more honest, less filtered version of your thoughts. Things come out on paper that might never come out in conversation, even with someone you trust deeply.
This is especially true for the harder stuff. Ancestral patterns. Childhood wounds. Complicated relationships with parents, partners, or yourself. Writing creates a private, judgment-free space to let those things exist on the page before you're ready to speak them anywhere else.
It builds a relationship with your own intuition
One of the quiet gifts of consistent journalling is that it strengthens your connection to your own inner voice. The more you write, the more you start to notice patterns in your own thinking - recurring fears, recurring desires, recurring questions you keep circling back to.
Over time, this becomes a kind of dialogue with yourself. You start to trust what comes up on the page. You start to recognise your intuition more clearly, because you've been practising listening to yourself all along.
A simple way to begin, if you're new to journalling
You don't need a beautiful notebook or the perfect words. You don't need to write every day, or write for very long. Some of the most powerful journal entries I've seen from clients are just a few honest lines.
If you're not sure where to start, try this after your next healing session, or any time something feels unsettled: write down what you're feeling in your body right now, without judging it. Write down any thought, image, or memory that came up, even if it doesn't make sense yet. Write down one thing you needed to hear today.
That's it. No structure required. Just honesty.
Why I created The Chakra Healing Journal
This is actually exactly why I created The Chakra Healing Journal - to give people a gentle structure to start with, especially if a blank page feels intimidating. It's designed to guide you through reflecting on each chakra, noticing where you might be holding blocks, and building a regular practice of checking in with yourself.
Journalling isn't a replacement for energy healing - but it is one of the most powerful companions to it. It's the quiet, ongoing work that happens between sessions. The part where you meet yourself, page by page.
If you'd like a guided way to start journalling as part of your healing journey, you can find The Chakra Healing Journal on Amazon, or book a free 15-minute discovery call if you'd like to talk through where you are right now and what might support you best.
